Admission Policy

  • We admit all students willing to serve his/her community and the world
  • We admit any student who is willing to acquire communicative competence in both English and Japanese and to contribute to the global community

Curriculum Policy

Okinawa Christian Junior College has Christianity as its founding spirit. It provides outstanding educational opportunities and promotes excellence in scholarship. It also helps develop mature individuals who are prepared to contribute their knowledge and talents for the good of society.

  • Our curriculum enables students to improve their English over two years as well as offering them the chance of studying other foreign languages.
  • Our oral English classes have small numbers of students. We also have a system whereby students can easily transfer to higher level classes as their ability improves.
  • We offer other classes to improve students’ reading, writing and critical thinking skills. These compulsory courses usually contain around 30 students.

Diploma Policy

Department of Early Childhood Care and Education

Admission policy

  • Students who like children and want to work with them
  • Students who are eager and willing to learn the theory and practice of childcare
  • Students who have the will to address all childcare problems, both in the home and in the community

Curriculum Policy

Childhood Education and Childcare has Christianity as its founding spirit. It provides outstanding educational opportunities and promotes excellence in scholarship. It also helps develop mature individuals who are prepared to contribute their knowledge and talents for the good of society.

  • By following our curriculum students will be able to acquire a nursery teacher’s license as well as a kindergarten teacher’s license (second grade) in two years.
  • We offer compulsory courses (containing around 50 students each) which aim to cultivate the skills of reading, writing and thinking.
  • We offer smaller elective classes on such subjects as “General Study”, “Instruction on Teaching Methods” and “Music,” among others.

Diploma Policy

Okinawa Christian Junior College’s Department of Early Childhood Education and Childcare has developed its own curriculum with a view to producing nursery school and kindergarten teachers in line with our Educational Principles. Once students have acquired the necessary credits in the prescribed classes they are able to graduate.

  • Students have to become independent young adults with good organizational skills. They also have to develop high level reading and communication skills.
  • Students have to acquire sensitivity to all aspects of child care, as well as developing high-level professional knowledge of childcare on the basis of a liberal arts education.
  • Students have to strive to become “peacemakers”, contributors to peace in the world.
